Digital pics on CD's

For those who store digital pictures on CD's-- today I copied pictures from the memory card to a couple CD's. I thought in our computer they would come up as dated folders, just like on the computer. Instead, it just runs a picture slide show. Not what I need. I don't see to do anything else. DId I have the wrong idea that the pics on the CD would be stored as folders? It seemed that I had to install the Kodak software, I did, but that was just a picture program to enhance pics--don't need that--I am trying to get stuff off the computer, not add to it. I hate being computer ignorant. Any info appreciated.Thanks.
