:hissy: We are an African-American couple. We just received approval of our Home Study. Now the waiting begins - waiting to find a child, waiting to be selected for that child, waiting to meet the child, etc.
I need advice on how to handle all of this waiting. The stress is getting to me.
I'm open to suggestions.
Thanks!
Well congrats to getting this far. It can be a pain all the waiting.
If this will be your first child
1. Enjoy each others company.
2. Read up on adoption information.
3. Get together with your friends and discuss regular stuff.
4. enjoy your hobbies.
I did this, but I did my best to not get too wrapped up in this part, but I like to decorate.
5. dream abut your nursery/childs room.
6. start checking out stuff that you may need.
7. I found online folks who helped me with a lot of information, they also understood what friends, and family IRL did not regarding the differences, and emotions while going down the adoption road.
Best wishes

i think it will go quickly...... just do as the above post suggests, and do enjoy eachothers company...and peace and quiet.....because that wee one that is meant to be in your family will add chaos, love and noise!!:hissy:
i pray for swiftness in the process..... you have gotten over the worst part...the homestudy...now just take the time to imagine life..... with a baby!!!!
Are you adopting from the foster care system or will it be a private agency infant adoption? That will have a lot of impact on what you do while you wait as well.
Did you complete your profile and get placed in the books? Generally it isn't too long after that, depending on your agency.
Good luck!
Once we turned in our profile our baby girl was born two weeks later. And yes please enjoy each other company because it is going to change fast. Congrats.
