If you have experience with fifth disease in your infant, toddler or self, please hit me with a POSITIVE story (heh). Did you catch it yourself? How long did your child's rash last? Any other info I should know? (other than I shouldn't be exposed to him because I'm pregnant but he's already been contagious from 4 to 28 days prior to the development of the rash... so... yeah.)
Jenna, I don't have any experience with this (a miracle in itself, considering I have 5 children!)....however, there is a thread over on the General Adoptive Parents Board about this that you may want to check out.

I caught it when I was ttc. I was a K teacher. Other than turning blotchy when out in the sun and the nurse at my ob/gyn office terrifying me, it wasn't a biggie.
((((((((((Jenna)))))))))) I wish I had more words for you. I'm thinking positive thoughts, if that helps any! :)
Since you are so web savy I am sure you have already done the research, but as a medical provider I can tell you that I have not heard any scary stories about pregnancy and Fifth disease. I do not however work in OB/Gyn, but having done rotations while in school in OB/Gyn and Pediatrics I never heard any bad stories. Here is a link to the CDC website:

Most of the info is very positive, but they do give some possible problems with Fifth disease exposure and pregancy. The good news is that these things occur only a very small percentage of the time.
We will keep you in our prayers.
(I'm having a blood test done at my OB today. My OB takes it very seriously. Since I'm always anemic in the first place, it's NOT good news if I get this from Nick.)
That said, Nick is still rashy today but happy as ever. We're calling him our speckled frog. :)
Good luck with your test. I am glad they are covering all of the bases. I wasn't trying to minimize things, but just trying to give you some good vibes. Given the fact that you are already anemic it is better to be safe than sorry.

Had my blood drawn this afternoon. We'll know more about me tomorrow or the next day. (Of course, now my Mom is saying, "Maybe you DID have it when you were little." Oh ma!)
Poor little guy =0( I hope he gets better soon.
No, none of my kids have ever got it thank goodness so can't really offer any experience with it. Infact I haven't heard about anyone around us getting it.
But good luck. I hope you hear good news tomorrow that both you and your little one on the way are safe.
My daughter was diagnosed with Fifth's last Monday. I am not really sure when she first exhibited the symptoms. She was teething (molars) so I thought the bright red cheeks were from that. The first time I noticed the rash was last Sunday. We had been outside and I thought she had been sunburned and I kept beating myself up because I had let that happen.
Daycare called on Monday that she had a rash so we went to the Doctor and it was diagnosed as Fifths. For the rest of the week the rash would flare up at different times. The doctor said it was activated by heat or activity. It was pretty much gone by Saturday and by today I don't notice it at all.
The daycare did post a warning about Fifth's for any pregnant women who may have come into contact with her.

My whole household has had Fifths Disease within the last 2 months. My husband had the bad rash on his legs, I had and still have swelling and pain in my joints and now my daughter has the rash on her face. It is no fun!! I posted something on the General Adoption Board about it and got some good replies, you may want to look at that... Good luck with everything!!
