Yesterday we found out that Megan has FOOD ALLERGIES--yikes!
Little miss is VERY allergic to milk, and somewhat allergic to wheat, gluten, soy and eggs as well.
Is there a food allergy forum here? Is anyone else dealing with these sort of issues? I've never paid attention before, but now of course, I'm scrambling!
Any pointers, resources, forums, etc would be GREATLY appreciated.
So far, we've made an appt with a dietician and have switched to a gluten-free rice drink. And guess what? My little milk-addict didn't even blink--she just started guzzling it down! CRAZY. We'll see if "rice frozen treat" is the same as her beloved ice cream.

There is a gluten free/casein (milk protein) free diet recipe exchange on Yahoo!. I belong because I don't do dairy and we were exploring info on different diets for kids with behavioral and other issues. GFCFrecipes : Recipe group for cooking a gluten-free, casein-free diet, especially for chidren. There are others who have kids with allergies or who are on restricted diets, but don't know if there is a forum here! I've been on this web site for years, but haven't explored all the options. I'm a home body. :blush:Hang in there. The first couple of months are the hardest, but then you start to get the hang of it. The group that I listed above has good basic recipes for bread, gluten free flour mixes, etc., and even where to find them. Let's see...oh! There is now a gluten free oats so you can have oatmeal or oatmeal cookies, etc. Gifts of Nature, Certified Gluten Free Rolled Oats. I've found them for $11.85, for 44 ozs. (yeah, get used to sticker shock!)

Hey - I can talk to you a tiny bit about this - A's baby cousin was diagnosed right away w/ a SEVERE milk/soy protein allergy. They're hoping she'll grow out of it, and her m om's nursed her only, but she's soon to start some solids. I'll call you soon to talk about this and get more info on Miss M so I can start asking around. Also, i posted about the baby on the First Year and got a few responses if you can find the thread - was probably back in Feb or March.Basically, her mom eats pita, hummus, rice, some meat, fresh fruits and veggies. Watch out - we had NO IDEA but EVERYTHING has soy in it! From my int'l coffees/chais to some salad dressings, crackers. YIKES! Also, My cuz's SIL has boy w/ a VERY severe gluten allergy - she's in the Indy area. I'm sure I can get you in contact w/ her if you need it.
