my best friends are adopting a baby from Korea. He should be coming over this month. As they are not able to get him in korea, the first time they will see him is at the airport when he is brought to USA by a transporter. We are hoping to make this day VERY special. I am planning on packing an "airport day survival pack" for their baby shower. A few things I have in mind so far are Buttons that say "Mom", "Dad", "Big Sister", "Grandma" etc. Some snacks, a few magazines, a couple of diapers, disposable camera, confetti. Any suggestions on what else I can put in there?
don't forget tissues : )
Also a couple toys for the new addition (who will probably be very overwhelmed and scared.)
Depending on age a fun kids snack for the baby.
Travel wet wipes.
I hope some one will be able to record the event for them.
Have fun.

How sad that the parents weren't be able to go to Korea to meet their new child. The parents will have even less knowledge/experience of their child's country of origin as well as be less equipped to understand the logistical challenges if/when the adopted person decides to travel back to their country of origin.
I'm glad my parents had in-depth knowledge and experience of Taiwan - they could better support and relate to my own travels when I returned temporarily.
An extra outfit for the baby? Not sure how old he is. And maybe something for the big sister to do while they are waiting- a toy or a baby doll of her own to baby while she is waiting.
Is champagne allowed?
A big banner that says welcome home _____?
It's so nice that you are doing that for them!
A goodie bag for your friend to give the escort would also be nice. The long flight is very difficult. Things to combat dirt and dry air -- Chapstick, hand cream, moist towelettes, etc. -- would be nice, as would an eye mask, inexpensive cloth slippers, etc.
