I have read all of the suggestions and listened to them on youtube. They are really great and I can't wait to sing to a lil one again someday.
I realized I have a wonderful song to share with you guys! I sang this to my kids (who were abandoned by biomom and raised by daddy till I came along) when they were 5, 7 and 9 at the youngest.
It is a song none of you have heard of and I know will love!! Comes from an Anime I would watch as a teen. Called Washu's Lullaby
Listen to the song on youtube (ignore the animation the first time you listen, it's distracting)

Some of the lyrics that stand out to me as an adoptive mom:
Generations through the ages
Joined as one somehow
Leading to the miracle
That I am holding now
From the sky and from the sea
Upon a breeze you came to me
You seem to see
A greater universe than I do
You've had quite a journey darling
You should rest a while
When you cry we still rejoice
To hear your voice - oh yes, it's true
My sweet Washu(child's name)
Please understand how much we love you
Listen and let me know if you love it too! :)
The Story by Brandi Carlile makes me cry every time.
All of these lines across my face
Tell you the story of who I am
So many stories of where I've been
And how I got to where I am
But these stories don't mean anything
When you've got no one to tell them to
It's true...I was made for you
I climbed across the mountain tops
Swam all across the ocean blue
I crossed all the lines and I broke all the rules
But baby I broke them all for you
Because even when I was flat broke
You made me feel like a million bucks
You do
I was made for you
You see the smile that's on my mouth
It's hiding the words that don't come out
And all of my friends who think that I'm blessed
They don't know my head is a mess
No, they don't know who I really am
And they don't know what
I've been through like you do
And I was made for you...
All of these lines across my face
Tell you the story of who I am
So many stories of where I've been
And how I got to where I am
But these stories don't mean anything
When you've got no one to tell them to
It's true...I was made for you
I really love this website. Everytime I need something I can find it here. Tonight I was looking for songs to sing to my little fd. Here's one to add:
Baby of Mine-Bette Midler
BAby mine, dont you cry
Baby mine, dry your eyes
Rest your head close to my heart
Never to part, baby of mine
Little one when you play
Pay no heed what they say
Let your eyes sparkle and shine
Never a tear baby of mine
If they knew all about you
They'd end up loving you too
All those same people who scold you,
What they'd give just for the right to hold you
From your hair down to your toes
You're not much, goodness knows
But you're so precious to me
Sweet as can be, baby of mine.
