Recently I have found out that my hubby is going to allow me to get another a puppy. This puppy will be a Yorkshire Terrier (yorkie), and I have waited a very long time for him to allow me to get this breed of dog. His main reasons for saying no in the past are because they are crazy expensive dogs, but recently a good frined of mine bred hers and now she has puppies that should be born soon. Honestly I can't wait!
Anyway...
I need some help naming it (I really want a girl but will take a male if the personality match is right), since I am not sure if I will be getting a male or a female I want to pick out a name for each.
I don't really want a fu-fu name like Zoey or Chloe at all. We do have a golden retriever named Roxie and a chihuaua named Baya, so those names are out. I really wanted to name her Bella, and actually that was what I wanted name the chihuaua, but my daughter didn't like it so we used the spanish version of Bella which is Baya with the english way of spelling it. I kind of wanted to name this new puppy Bella since this breed is from England, but again I am getting a veto from hubby!
Any suggestions? He/she should be born soon and I have no names picked put! Please HELP!
For girls, there are food names:
Cookie, Sugar, Pumpkin, Caramel, Sweetie Pie,Lollipop, etc.
and there are special names:
Angel, Fairy, Pixie, Tinkerbelle, etc.
For Boys, there are power names:
Thunder, Superman, Simba, or any name with the prefix "Little" such as "Little Guy", "Little Man", "Little Mister", "Little Monster"
If you have researched the breed, you know that they may be small, but they don't know they are small. My best friend and her "Precious" were kicked out of obedience class twice because Precious did not like Rottweilers. She would run right underneath them and launch her attack straight up! They were spooked because they could hear her and feel her but they couldn't see her!
You are in for a LOT of Fun!

My sis' yorkie is named Charlotte. She is a wild woman and adorable (we are a large breed family ourselves!). Enjoy!!!
I had a Yorkie growing up named "Chad". It was just such a prefect name for him.
Yorkies are awesome little dogs. Ours was so smart. Also was very protective. We used to ask our friends to pretend like they were hitting us. We say "she's hurting me, Chad". Oh, He'd get soo mad! He'd start barking and growling.
I am getting my second puppy, a weimaraner in 2 weeks! I already own a mini dachshund, who is turning 1 year old on sunday.
I like people names for pets for some reason. I went to baby name websites to look up meanings, etc, to help with naming. Our newest little girl (I wanted a male, but fell for a sweet female weim) is going to be Sabine. Our others options were Sasha, Eva, Phoebe, or Symber. We're not using them so they are up for grabs, lol.
Good luck with the yorkie, I think they are such cuties!
MamaS...
I grew up with a yorkie so I am pretty familiar with the breed, but I loved your story about your friend's "precious"! The one we had when I was growing up terrorized the big black lab that lived next door to us. Our golden is a rescue and she is so timid. She lets our chihuaua walk all over her, and I am pretty sure that the same will happen with the new puppy. My biggest concern is how well the chihuaua is going to adjust to having a new puppy take up some of her mommy's time. She is very much a mommy's girl and is very protective of her place with me. The vet keeps telling me that with the correct introduction she will be fine. So we shall see!

Oh and as for names...
I think we have settled on the name Mac for a male. My hubby said if we get a male we may stud him out and then my hubby said we would call him Mac Tools! lol
Still looking for a female name though. I am trying to stay away from any that end in "a" or any of the long "e" sounds, because we have a Baya and a Roxie.
Jennasmom,
I have always liked to name my dogs for something that ties into where they are from or bred for...

Duke Conan / Richmond Castle / Yorkshire / Medival times: He was considered to be a threat to Henry II (?) because he was so wealthy...quite an interesting tale.
