Hi - I was born in Rome, Italy and was adopted by my parents in 1963. I became a US citizen somewhere between 1967-1969. At the time I was living in Nassua County, NY. I am trying to obtain a copy of my Citizenship & naturlaization papers, but the Clerk of Nassua counties website says I can only do this in person.
I currently live in Florida, and this would be somewhat difficult.
Would anybody have any ideas?
Thanks...Tim
Your naturalization papers are handled by US CIS formerly INS. You can file a FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) and get everything in your file. You should have an "A Number" (An immigrant number starting with "A")- if not, go by your naturalized name. File it with USCIS - you should get everything they have in the file by filing the FOIA. The State of NY won't have this record.
Good luck.
