DH is native bilingual Spanish-English; I am native bilingual Polish-English (I also speak Spanish). Our foster daughter is only 7mo, but her bio family is bilingual Spanish-English. We want to maintain her exposure to Spanish so that when she returns home, she'll understand what they're saying. However, in the event that she does not return home and we adopt her (not expecting it, but you never know with foster care), I also speak to her in Polish.
Does anyone out there have foster kids to whom you speak a language other than English/the bio's native language?
well my Baby L is supposed to be adopted by me so I'm just speaking Spanish at home. At this point bparents are in the wind so there are no visitation so between myself and my parents she is being exposed to Spanish and English (as she goes to daycare and my Church is a regular English speaking church)
