Hello everyone!
I have a situation I could use some help with.
My husband is in the Army and we just PCS'd. We had to wait until we got here to start the process of adopting but we finally are! Well, to throw a wrench into things, my husband warned me of an upcoming deployment. I can't say exactly when or to where, obviously, but let's just say that we would have time to complete our home study and other paperwork before getting placed.
I am wondering if anyone else has been in this situation and how it might have affected your adoption process?
I guess to be more specific, here are my questions:
Say we got matched with a child and he has to deploy a month later. Will they not let us have the child because of it?
Will we have to wait until he gets back before they even try to match us, knowing that he is deploying?
Thank you for any information you have!

Hi we are an Army family and I found out that there is a guideline that if you guys are in the middle of an adoption they will "stop" his orders for 6 months so you can finalize. I will try to find the directive online! We did the same with waiting and hopefully will be adopting in a few months!

Just an update!
I talked to my social worker about his possible deployment, and she said that here in Oklahoma, there is a 6 month "trial period" before finalization that can be waived. Its up to a judge of course, but she said it happens! So that was some good news. She also told us about the deployment deferment that might be possible as well. So good news over all! :)
