Ultimately, we went the healthy white infant route, and I now have a beautiful 6-month-old baby boy.
I have been thinking a lot about whether or not we will have a second child. We both want one (especially so our son can have a sibling), but neither of us want to put our son through the potential of placing a baby brother/sister in the house and then having the adoption fall through.
I have been thinking about possibly adopting our second child from Romania. All of the reasons I wanted to adopt from Romania still exist, and we wouldn't have to worry about a baby coming into our house who wasn't staying.
Can you refer me to any books, magazine articles, or other sources that show the upside of adopting from Romania? My husband's biggest fear is that the agency will say that the child is healthy but that he/she will actually have health problems. (He isn't talking about the "normal" risks that ANY child has. He is concerned about AIDS, hepatitis, etc.) Did any of you have husbands who were initially afraid of adopting internationally but are now glad that they did?

I would say the most important thing is to find a reputable agency that will guide you through the steps. Romanian medical reports tend to be very thorough (I even know the name and address of my son's birthmom, what he weighed at birth, any illnesses he might have had in the orphanage).
Also, be honest with yourself and your agency about what kinds of medical/emotional/developmental problems you're willing to deal with. It took quite a while for my referral to come through, but that was because I specified the types of problems I felt I could deal with and those that I couldn't.
If you'd like to email me with any questions, you can contact me at jbschmo@somtel.net. Good luck.
