Can our adoption homestudy done through DCS be used to adopt from other states? Is there a waiting period? Such as, we have to wait x amount of months after being approved before we can send it out of state?
Thanks
We're adopting from Texas (foster child - I assume that's what you mean, not private adoption?). Texas would have taken our current adoptive homestudy but Indiana decided to make us do an ICPC one instead. From the time it was ordered (after being matched- our current one went for the matching process) to child in home was 2 1/2months. Ours went fairly quickly for what I've heard but I was on top of it & calling the state ICPC office bugging them.. lol.

We didn't have to pay anything for our adoption homestudy (thru DCS). They were fine to send it to the TX CPS for consideration.
I wouldn't have thought to try that. Naca, how did you go about finding the tx foster child to adopt? I've been looking on our website but nothings panned out. I didn't know we could look at other states and that would still be cost effective (or no charges) either.
TIA
Several out of state agencies accepted my homestudy. But there were others that would only accept my homestudy directly from DCS.

Do you also potentially rec'v AAP subisdies if the child qualifies and is out of State? Not sure anyone here knows that answer...
