Has anyone adopted a waiting child from out of state? If so, were you able to use your adoption study from DCS? :thanks:

I am currently in the process of an out of state independant adoption. I was told by my lawyer that we needed (specifically for independant) a homestudy catered to her. But I don't see why you couldn't use your homestudy and if you go through a lawyers have an amendment done to it to add information about the specific child you are adopting.
Hope this helps, PM me if you need more info :)

Well, I've heard that the county DCS that does your homestudy or refers you for one, "owns" your homestudy. So, I was wondering if most counties will allow you to use it for an out of state adoption. I'm hoping at the very least that they would let us use it as long as we "paid" them for it. It would still be used for giving a waiting child a forever home.
