A mother living in central africa ,but is from uk,wants a private adoption carried out by a legal practitioner. How much would this cost and what does it involve? Why cant i just be as simple a signing rights over?More people would adopt an give children a home if it wasnt so hard to go through and costly.
I can understand your desire to avoid unnecessary red tape and costs and thereby arrange a private adoption. However, apparently there are many scams in international adoption, including child trafficking rings and coercion of birth parents. That's why the countries that are signatories to the Hague Convention have due diligence screening. And if I was a relinquishing mother, I'd want to ensure that my child ended up safely in the right hands, and not a trafficking ring.
I'd suggest that you try the International Adoption forums on adoption.com as well as read up about the various complexities, including ethics and post-adoption support, of intercountry adoption before you choose the private placement route. Here's a suggestion reading list from a post-adoption resource centre in Sydney, Australia http://www.bensoc.org.au/uploads/documents/tr-adopt-read-resource-nov20061.pdf and BAAF in the UK might be able to offer more resources British Association for Adoption & Fostering
