Our baby girl will be born in about a month - so excited!! Birth mom is hispanic, birth dad is AA.
We keep coming back to the name Anelisa Joy. Any thoughts? Our last name is relatively long, but the names flow together well. We like the meaning and just think it's so cute. Not too popular, but familiar.
Concerns:
spelling - do you think she'd have to spell it out all the time?
nicknames - I wouldn't really want a nickname...from y'all's experience, would her name get shortened or if we insist on the whole thing would it stick?
Thanks! :)
Congrats on your baby girl!!!
I can't tell how you pronounce it?
ann-lisa?
or anel isa?
I can't tell.
Yes, she would get a nickname I bet!
Most kids with longer names do!
I was/am Age and Aid.

Yes, I think you will have to spell it for people. It doesn't matter though, if you like it. My oldest daughter is named Anna-Lisa. We named her after her great aunt Aneliese but thought we were spelling it an easier way. Come to find out, a lot of people don't know what a hyphen is and we constantly have to spell her name. Most of her friends call her Anna, all our family calls her Anna-Lisa. 4 out of 5 of my kids have names that I have to spell out to people. It doesn't bother me because I like their names.
