I originally posted this message back in 2008. We had a problem with a specific group of people back then - and since, we've been moving along pretty well. However, now, I suspect it's time for this warning to be posted again. There's just been to much 'head scratching' going on...so be cautious please. I ask that if you suspect someone might be a troll/scammer - please report the user to either crick or myself - DO NOT POST OPENLY on the forums. ========================================== Please remember This is a public site, open to anyone! Including Trolls. It is unfortunate that we, from time to time, have to deal with people who enjoy preying on the emotions of others. Adoption is a very emotional topic and some people, for whatever reason, love the attention that posting here gets them. They will act out their games and intertwine all of you in their web of lies, even befriending you ֖ causing you to become angry at us, when weve finally had enough and banished them from further participation on the site. The bottom line҅at any given time, there is likely to be someone here who is being dishonestbut beyond that, we know from time to time, we have people here who are flat-out falsifying who they are, what they are and why theyŒre here. They weave their web and the inconsistencies start to flow. Were not blind to these people҅we often know who they are fairly early onand itŒs usually the same people over and over again. This is an equal opportunity scam. We have someone who pretends to be an adoptive parent. We have someone who pretends to be an adopted adult. We have someone who pretends to be a birth mother. We have someone who pretends to be pregnant and placing. The bottom line iseveryone is their target. They target the entire community. Please, use caution when dealing with people you meet on the internet. ItŒs fine to befriend someone, but understandthe internet offers a mask of anonymity, so be careful. NEVER send money to anyone. Ever. NEVER give out your contact information, unless youŒre prepared to deal with someone who has less than above board motivations. If you think that someone might not be who they say they are, please feel free to email or PM Crick or I. Most of the time, these people outђ themselves by making critical mistakesand weŒre watching for them. Just be careful out there
