My husband and I are thinking of applying to adopt through Gladney's AA/bi-racial program. We feel like God is calling us to adopt. We were originally going to work with another agency, but that didn't work out. When we were going to work with the other agency we had already decided we would be open to any race. We felt like we would not have to wait very long because a lot of couple's only want a Caucasian baby. I'm wondering if anyone else has gone through Gladney's ABC program. Could you PM or email me with your experiences. Also, if you didn't use Gladney could you PM/email me what other agencies have programs like this for around $15,000?
Thanks.
I hate to rain on you parade but I wanted to say two things.
1. Just because you are open to an African American child does not mean that you will be matched quickly. There are some people on this board who waited two years for a African American child and others who waited only six months for a full caucasian child. This is especially true nowadays because many agenies have found lots of families of all races who are open to African American children.
2. Its very difficult to adopt for less than 15K. If you are talking about only the program/placement fee, there are many agencies that will have fees that are around that much money. Most adoptions cost about 20-30K for everything - including homstudy and post placement etc.

Gladney was the agency we choose recently, paid the application fee, and were told that they "regretfully" could not work with us. I regret that I had to pay money to be told no.
I've heard of the same happening with Gladney. People that use them seem to love them, but a handful of people pay only to get rejected.
We didn't apply with them, we don't qualify (can't remember for what reason!)
Please remember that ALL discussion of agencies must be conducted by PM according to our guidelines.
