I posted this in another part of the forum too, so hopefully between the two, I can get some feedback! :)
My husband and I are looking to get back into the adoption process again. Our son is just a month shy of being a year old and we are excited to have another child and for him to have a sibling!
Here in lies our challenge...
After a series of very unfortunate events (fradulent agencies, lots of red flags, loss of money, and a fall-through), we were matched with our son's birth mom through a friend of a friend. Working strictly with an attorney from start to finish was such a breath of fresh air for us! The problem is that he mainly works with identified adoptions, and this time around we will again need some sort of matching service. We live in Ohio and "advertising" is against the law unless conducted by an agency or attorney. So, we can't advertise on our own for situations.
We are in no place to be able to handle the typical $20k+ agency/facilitator situations. Also, after the major issues we dealt with before our son with both agencies and facilitators we are very hesitatant and leary of working with either type again. Ideally we would be able to find an attorney's office that focuses on adoption, including matching.
We are not completely against using an agency/facilitator again, but would be doing EXTENSIVE research on them and would want to have valid positive feedback from others working with them.
I had almost forgot how "overwhelming" and "cluttered" the internet is with adoption options. I was quickly reminded as I got back into looking once again. Soooo, any help or advice would much and greatly appreciated. If you have suggestions, please post!!! If you have specifics, please PM me!
We simply need to find someone/some place to work with that will either work in Ohio or will work with ICPC. Our son was out-of-state, so we have that experience.
Thank you so much in advance for all your help!
