Hello, as we get closer to meeting the cw for the first time to get things started we keeping coming up with questions.....we decided to start foster care in hope to adopt. We live in calaveas/admador county and is working with Enviromental alternaties. I was wondering if anyone is down in this area. If so what should we expect? They told me it takes around a month to complete, does this sound right? They said we dont go to any classes,cw comes to our house for training. We also wondering bout the bedrooms. They said if we get an infant he or she can sleep in our room.is this true? And is there a certain age that can share a room with my 10 year old daughter? Last question my children are on medicaid and we had been on food stamps..is this going to stop us? If anyone lives in this area or has any info please let me know!!
Thank you

We live in Amador County but our case was transferred from San Joaquin County where we used to live. I know for us infants are allowed to sleep in a crib in our room. Also, your daughter would be allowed to share her room with a foster child as long as the child is also a girl. Age wasn't an issue with our previous cases. I don't know how the training works here because we were certified in our previous county. Welcome to the world of foster care!

Thank you for your reponse! I was hoping the age would not be a problem.Since my husband and I have decided to do this we have all kinds of questions! My best friend is adopting a little boy in San Joaquin County and i have asked her all kinds of questions. From what I see things are a little different. But we are so excited!
I'll be happy to answer what I know but there may be differences from county to county. I was just talking to my friend who is adopting from San Joaquin County and I believe it's the same friend as yours lol! If she lives in Manteca and is adopting a 3 year old boy then it's her. She was just telling me about her friend beginning the process. Small world :)

We are going though EA in Calaveras county. We started all the paper work last nov and we got placed with our first child 2 months later in Jan. So far we have had 10 children. One of the children we are signing guardianship papers tomorrow. And 2 other children we are close to adopting. We love our caseworker!! Fostercare is not easy, but well worth it. I never thought our county was this busy, boy I was wrong. And the need is so bad.If you have any questions you can pm if you want!!
