I live in Houston Texas and was born and raised here. I have had a great family life and now I am in search of my birth mother. My mom passed away in 99 and my father can not offer any help as to how and locate my birth mom. My relatives are very supportive of what I am about to do and wishme the best of luck and even offer me more help than I could ever ask for. I have been searching for a short time and have had nothing but roadblocks from the adoption agency to the court system to vital statitics in Texas. All I can get from my father is that this is where it was and I don't remember much. This is in part to the fact that my mother passed away and he can not deal with the pain. I was born 11-4-1972 in Harris county Texas Houston hospital St Joseph. If there is a way to find out any info on how to find a birth mother I have seen it here. I do not know the name of her or any other info. She went to the University of Houston and my birth father was from Holland. This is all I can know for now and if there is any way that someone has info or can help in this please let me know. I feel at the age of 38 and all the years that I have had wondering it is now time.
Thanks
Welcome to the forums Jeh,
You should request your non-id from the state and sign up for the mutual consent registry they maintain.
Texas Adoption Laws
You should also request any non-id, letters in the file, social history etc from the adoption agency or maternity home you were with if you know it. If you don't then it might be noted in your non-id.
Sometimes you get lucky and there is enough info to piece things together or they forget to black out a name etc. It gives you a starting point.
You should also register your search on the reunion registry here (see tab reunite above). Search the registry but don't be too specfic - search the month vs the day because things were changed in our records and after this length of time people forget stuff. Search for details that match your story.
ISRR.net is another place to register with.
Once all those things fail then create a post asking for a search angel - if no one responds let me know and I will see what I can do to help you find one. SEARCH ANGELS do not charge for their services.
Kind regards,
Dickons

Jeh,
Not sure where you live but if San Antonio is close you should consider joining up and helping other adoptees fight to change the laws in Texas August 8th, 2011.
Plus meeting other adoptees is good for the soul...

Yes it is and I have found alot of info from this. Any other input is always welcome. Thanks
I can help some - contact me thru email at candyeigenbrod@gmail.com and I'll see what I can do.
This shows that your mother or father (being Billye, I'd say your mother) was Billye Renshaw - I'll start looking for more info. The formatting is a bit messed up here, but this in in the birth books and since that is your birth cert number, this is about you!
LAST NAME FIRST NAME MN MONTH DAY YEAR BOOK/COMPUTER BIRTHCERT COUNTY
RENSHAW BILLYE J 11 4 1972 BN 142-72-203231 HARRIS

Thanks to Sister7 I have found much information, but here is where I am stuck. I am not trying to make this a public thing just in case she does not want other who may not know to see things. Here is where I am on this, I have sent a private message on Facebook with no response, and I did not say alot but just asked her if Renshaw was her maiden name, that way she could say yes or no and then I would ease into some questions. If she does not answer how hard should I press. I don't want to make anyone mad but would like to get some info.
Thanks

The thing with FB is when you message someone who is no on your friends list, the get no notification and the message goes to the "other" inbox - most people don't even know it is there. How long has it been since you sent the message?
Some who are searching make an FB page using the adoptive name or searching for ??? just for the purpose of searching or making contact. Then if you send a friend request from that page, she will understand who is making the request, no one else will see it (if the setting are private) and she would be very likely to respond.
If that doesn't work for you, mail a letter (you have an address?). You can be honest and say you were adopted at birth, have been looking for your family, and research led you to her name and hope she can help. I would also include a picture or two - one current and one or so from when you were younger.
Let me know if you need anything else.
Good luck! (and thanks for the props) :)
UPDATE
I have made first contact it was strange because I did it 2 ways and confused her,LOL but she wrote back and I have sent a email off. Heres to the nexts step.
