When we started our adoption process we looked at Moldova but decided against it because it seemed that very few adoptions were completed from there to the US. Maybe I am wrong, but that kind of worried me. Have you looked at Latvia or Poland? I have also heard about a brand new Serbian program. We completed our adoption from Taiwan last November.
Yeah that was my concern as well. I think I've pretty much looked at all the countries in Europe and Asia by now but I looked at these two again and here is what I found:
1. Latvia -- children 6 years older than we wanted (9+ years); we were looking at MILD to MOD SN, not SEVERE; 2 + weeks in country is a bit long.
2. Poland -- requires bonding period UPTO 20 days (3 weeks)...which is too long for DH to be out of work. Plus age...mom can't be more than 40 years older than child. I am 43 so I am already at the limit for the age we were hoping for :0(
Bulgaria may be my best and really only option unless I want to travel all the way to Asia.
