Searching for my sister, June 1964

I invite you all to visit the website I have dedicated to finding my biological full sister.

I have hit many road blocks with my search. New Jersey Adoption Laws, Agency Policy and my birth mothers unwillingness to search have made my search impossible. I believe my sister and I have a right to decide whether or not we would like a relationship. At this point I do not even know if my sister knows about me. I was born after her. We were both given up for adoption as infants. I found my birth mother and she told me of my full biological sister. Rumor has it that my sister at one point about 10 years ago reached out to my birth mother and my birth mother turned her away. My birth mother also did not tell my sister about me. :-(

I'm now counting on -six degrees of separation- at least until the laws in NJ change. I am doing what I can to work with AWOL but even if the laws change it does not help my circumstance...

Sister of my lonely heart

Everyone keeping us apart

Why do they make us abide

Why do they not let us decide

These silly laws protect who

Certainly not me and you

I hope to give us both the choice

Let us decide whether we want to rejoice

We deserve a chance to heal

Why do they make it such a big deal

From the same parents we were conceived

So I really choose to believe

You will want to accept

A full sister you will not reject

Our mother put us both aside

So hard for her as she had to hide

I'm sure she did what was best

Only now she chooses not to deal with the rest

For personal letters I can not send

No one will tell me where you live

I have so much family history to share and give

I look into so many beautiful faces

In some of the strangest places

They told me your birth name was Marie

However you probably have a new identity

I've been looking high and low

To the ends of the earth I will go

You may have no clue I exist
