I know times vary (a lot), but now that we're approved & waiting, I'm a bit more curious. Once you were officially approved & waiting, how long was it before you got your 1st call for placement?

I have all calls forwarded to my cell phone when we leave the house, but I don't want to jump every time it rings. I'm calling our AW on Monday, but I was just curious if I needed to be paying close attention to the phone over the weekend.

Teddi, you are too cute! :D
As you well know, I can offer NO info on the wait time (because you're a few steps ahead of me) but I just wanted to say I'm totally praying for a swift and permanent placement for you and Steve. :) As far as the twins... you're wanting under a year, right? Like newborn? Or how old are you willing to consider?

I am still waiting for that first call to meet a child. It has been 3 years. I got approved for my 3rd homestudy. I am looking for a child from birth- 18 months. Now I am looking to age 4 years. I am in sac. ca. Sometimes I get discourage but I have to pray and I hope there is a child out there for me.
Schip I am so amazed you have been waiting so long. We live in the same county. Are you with the county or an agency? Do you know if your homestudy is being shown? On the other hand, I suppose 18 months and legal risk might be hard to find. I bet it must be so hard to wait. While I don't know what waiting so long is like, my heart breaks for you. PM me if you want to chat

We were approved before the housing bust. It took 3 mo for infant placement. The phone call came to the home at 9 p.m. Congrats to me, "It's a girl."
Fast forward 4 years later . . .
We are now waiting for second placement. We finally got one call to husband's cell phone 11 months later. We weren't quick enough to say yes . . . had to think about it for a couple hours. When we called back, placement went to someone else.
It's now been one year and we're waiting, waiting, waiting. I am so ready for the call and so paranoid we won't answer one of the numbers. It's odd. We went to a training session to update our hours. We spoke to one of the social workers about the wait time. She said a couple months ago, they had a relinquishment and couldn't find any waiting families home that weekend to take the call; baby went to emergency foster placement instead. It's odd because we never got a missed call that we know about . . . I'm wondering if they bother leaving messages. I can't keep my phone on during certain working hours, and husband is so busy, he misses calls a lot, and home is large and calls sometimes go to voice mail before we can grab the phone. It's frustrating, because I don't know if they are even going to try to call . . .
I waited for 3 years. I finally got the call. I picked up a 3 week old little girl at the receiving home. It is an emergency placement for now. But, I will know next week if and what is going on. She is now 1 month old and doing great.
I almost gave up... But, I kept hoping. Thank you all, for helping me get through this waiting period. :paci: :thanks:

Hi. Do you already have little ones in your home? Your tag shows 18 mo and 7 month old waiting for services.
Anyway, update to my last post. We have received more calls, but one match went to another home and one we passed on at the SW's recommendation. It was odd. It's like as if they gave us a courtesy call but talked us out of it and told us to just wait. Anyway, we might be matched soon with a baby under 6 months, pending a hearing. We are crossing fingers. It's been about 14 months and counting . . .
