When do these rates go into effect? When we did our final signing before finalization we were told the amount would be $446 and the amount would not be increasing (due to age) due to the budget problems CA is having.
sylvia when did you sign? when I went to a post adopt meeting, they said, the rates will not automatically go up at the age intervals unless THE FAMILY calls the post adopt....
they don't do it automatically anymore.
I was told in the POP training that a new law was passed. I think in Jan 2010 anyone adopting after that date will not receive increases. Previous adoptions before that date will continue to receive the age increases.
My CW said that the increase was only during fostercare, and that when you adopt, it goes back to the reduced rate. Dont know if she is right or wrong....

I don't think the CW is correct. When California passed its most recent budget, it budgeted an increase for foster care payments AND AAP. Also, the law that dictates how much you can receive in AAP still states that it cannot exceed the basic foster care payment you currently receive.
I guess we'll all find out when people start signing their AAP agreements.

I went to a post-adoption meeting after Jan. 2010 and I was told that the family has to ask for the increases otherwise it will stay the same.
I think this is a case of different people saying different things.....I tend to believe post adoption folks more because they are the ones handling medical and AAP
Our Adoption worker said that there was a lawsuit regarding the rates. She said that they were waiting for the outcome. I guess they weren't successful. Since he doesn't have any Special Needs my rate will down to $598.00.

So you're suppose to call when your child moves up an age range post adoption?
yup! that's what I was told....of course that means for me I don't have to worry about that til she's 5. She's only turning 2 next week
