We are foster/adopting through Alameda County and it looks like it is going to happen. An Aunt came forward but was ruled out and the county has now closed the family search case. So 2 big hurdles down. We are have the termination of parental rights on 8/29. During this process we have pushed the fact that we want our baby girl to know her siblings and bio grandmother. The court is now asking is we would set something up in writing with her. Has anyone done this before? We said we would but have a lot of questions.
Thanks
I'm not from Alameda County, but, I did adopt from a differernt county in Cali. What they are asking is if you are willing to sign an OPEN ADOPTIVE AGREEMENT. If you choose to do so you let them know what type of contact is acceptable. Most people sign stating that they will send pictures and letters once a year. Sometimes they will add on that they will consider some contact. The reason they only state that they will send pictures and not have unlimited contact is because this is a legal binding contract. So if something happens you can stop contact without any problems. Good luck to you.

I found out yesterday that it is not a legal document but more of a good faith document. So feel better about it now. Good luck with the classes I really enjoyed them.
We are almost done with the adoption should be finalized in the next few months. They already terminated parental rights but they have 60 days to appeal which is up 10/29/11. From the start of the classes until we got a placement it was about 6 months. When the adoption is done it will be just over a year.
