I am currently renting a house but recently found out I was pre-approved for a home loan. My lease ends February 1st, 2012 and plan to purchase a home by then. Has anyone moved during their application process? How did this affect your journey? My classes don't start until January (I hope!) and I have not been scheduled for the home inspection or home study yet. Thanks!

I had a friend that moved but she was already licensed and they just had to come back out and inspect the new home to make sure it was up to code for kids. I don't think you'll run in to a problem since you're starting your classes in January. You'll likely know the address of your new home and can just put that on all the forms and just don't have your inspection or home study scheduled until after you are settled so you don't have to do it again.

Have you gone to the initial state (not county) meeting and filed your application? If so, you will have to refile.
This happened to us. We were in the middle of classes and moved into a larger house. The county doesn't care, but we had to re-file with the state, which moved us to the bottom of list again, which meant a longer wait for home inspection approval.
Further, it was stressful b/c we knew we had to do many home rennovations. We bought a foreclosed property. We were told that when the state calls to inspect, if you say you aren't ready, they will put you to the bottom of the list again. So even if you have tons of money and a dreamy house, if you are replacing carpet or retiling a bathroom, it won't pass inspection because it has "no flooring."
As it turned out for us, it took so long to move up the list, that our house was in good shape by the time they called.
Good luck.
Yes, I went to the initial meeting and have already submitted both county and state apps. I am hoping that moving won't delay the process too much. My plan is to be moved before I start my PRIDE classes. They haven't set me up for my home inspection or home study so I would think that the only delay would be the paperwork to change the address. Anybody else with similar circumstances???
