I was born in Seattle on August 19,1964 and I was adopted at birth using Catholic Community Services. I am looking for my BParents or siblings. I have had a great life and I am now looking to find out where I came from. :thanks:
Washington has a confidential intermediary service available. The service providers are licensed by the state and allowed to see your file/birth certificate. They then perform a search and try to find your parents and get their approval to release the info to you. If they have already passed away they will search for other relatives.
I used a service out of Seattle even though the court had opened my records for cause. I think it cost me about $350 but it is probably closer to $500 now. I did have a few snafu's but I think the searcher was a newbie. I just made sure she did the work.
I would assume the adoption unit would give you a list of licensed searchers to choose from.

If you go this route (or even if you don't) get your non-id from the state and also CC - they may be different and one of them may give you enough clues to not need the CI service. You can never tell until you get it. If you do request it make sure to request ALL info and any letters in the file - either one of your parents may have filed a letter etc or even filed a release of info to you.
You can also post your search on the registry on this site and ISRR.net.
Good luck,
Dickons
