Do adopted daughters get on with their adopted mothers?

I think personality matters, My mom (who I adore and who I know loves me) and I don't always get along, she can be very critical of me even though she is trying to be supportive in her way. However, I have always know she loves me and she treats my sister, her biological child, the exact same way. It's more of a mother-daughter issue not an adoption issue for us. But I'm a total Daddy's Girl from day 1 too :)
