Time line for agency placements

We are done with all of our classes through our agency!!! All finger printing and background checks are complete. We finish the homestudy tomorrow and doing the final saftey inspection as well then.

If you have went through an agency how long did it take to to get the "open" status for your home?

We are looking to adopt a special needs child 0-4 with or without a typcial sibling. There is a child on the photolisting that we are interested in but can't do anything until we are offically open as a foster home.

24 hours after all my paperwork was finished. Might have been quicker because I waited almost 2 extra months to get my out of state paperwork back from Michigan so they were basically just waiting for that form to come back.

Thanks for the replies. We completed the home study and in the morning we do our final saftey inspection. The adoption case worker said that they want to hurry up because they have a child picked out for us--that we would be the perfect familly for her. She would not give me any details on her so now we wait and hope things get processed quickly so we can meet her!

I think our foster status was almost immediate once the homestudy was complete whcih took about 3 days because we were an easy one no kids divorces etc.. Our adoption status took about a week longer. Good luck!
