I had never thought much about my adoption from China, nor did I have much interest in learning about it. However, as I move forward into my senior year, I begin a research project on adoption, particularly Chinese adoption. Through this project, I hope to find myself as a person, while educating people who are not fully acquainted with adoption.
Throughout my research, I have read many books about China's One-Child Policy, birth mothers, orphanages in China, the adoption process, etc. I have also examined studies based on surveys sent to adoptive families, and I even attempted to start my own with the group of girls that I was adopted with. All of the information that I have collected over several months has been enlightening; however, I feel as though all of the research is ultimately just a bunch of facts without meaning. I would absolutely LOVE to hear some of the insights, stories, and experiences of other adoptees, parents, birth parents, and professionals (AKA the many sides of adoption).
This process has been very eye opening, and I can truthfully say that I have a much greater interest in adoption and in my Chinese heritage. I hope to learn a lot more about myself and about adoption along the way.
Many thanks,

Welcome to the forum hefei,
Sadly there aren't that many adoptees on the forum that actively post.
The process of exploring adoption as it relates to part of who you are is interesting. I think it takes years and happens over again at each major life experience.
I am not terribly up on time frame of the first adoptees from China, but would you say you would be one of the first group/generation of adoptees from China coming of age?
Again, just wanted to say welcome.
Kind regards,
Dickons
