I found out our fs court date is this week. I would like to attend because i have not been getting much information from our csw. My question is for los angeles county, do I just show up that day? What time is court usually? Do they have a roster of court hearings and the times? Any help is apreciated.
My understanding is that every foster child is assigned an attorney when taken into care - were you given that person's name and, hopefully, phone number?
In DD's case, our County SW informed us of each of the initial court dates and, afterward, the outcome of each hearing.
Once we were going to TPR, The Court mailed us copies of the Notice of Hearing for each court date. Also, DD's attorney's assistant met with us at our home to discuss adoption, and both DD's attorney, and her assistant, kept in contact with us by phone and email regarding the outcome of each step towards TPR.
If your SW doesn't have the court info, and you don't have the contact info of your foster child's attorney, you should be able to contact the Court where the hearing will be held, give the Clerk the Case Number for your FC's case, and they can tell you which department the hearing will be in, and the time of the hearing.
You may not be able to attend, but you might be able to introduce yourself to FC's attorney. Also, I believe the "Minute Order" (which states what the judge decided at a hearing) is public information, and therefore you should be able to obtain a copy for a nominal fee. (I know Minute Orders are public information in civil matters, just not sure about family court - our DD's attorney always emailed me copies of the Minute Order after each hearing, so I'm not sure if I could have obtained them on my own.)
I hopes this helps! :o

I was able to attend the two TPR hearings in LA. There are no assigned times for the hearings. You show up by 8:30 and wait for the case to be called. I ended up waiting until 2:30 the first time. Parking is $5
Good luck
