I adopted my bio grandchild in 8/2002 when child was 3yr - just turned 13. Child knows bio parents and siblilngs, we never kept it from child. Parents want child back - which we don't mind, but wonder what steps we need to take, and if this is possible. Also, approximate cost of this. Child says wants to live with parents. Any help and support would be appreciated.
They have to adopt the child back - at that age the child most likely has to agree (different states different age applies) - your best is to Google "American Academy of Adoption Attorneys" and then select NY when you get to the web page. You will have to sign an identified surrender of your parental rights to the new parents and they will have to file the adoption papers to adopt her.
Do it right so the child will not have any identification issues in the future.
Kind regards,
Dickons
