Adopting AA Infant - Advice/Experience Sought

Hi My husband and I are a biracial couple. We would like to adopt an AA infant and are interested in any advice/experience you might have to share including agencies, timelines, tips etc., We live in DC and have started to look at a couple of agencies here but we are wondering whether it makes sense for us to look nationally as well? We don't know anyone who has adopted domestically and the amount of information when I google seems a little overwhelming. Thank you!
