HI,
My husband and I have been thinking about adopting a sibling for our child. So far no program has "yelled out to us" as the right one (unfortunately).
I was reading one agency website and they listed three trips to Kazakhstan. They mentioned that the first trip lasts approximately a month and that BOTH PROSPECTIVE PARENTS have to stay the entire month.
Is this protocol for Kaz? How do working families or folks who own their own businesses manage this one?
IF this is the case, then Kaz sadly is off the list.
Thanks in advance and happy holidays,
Amy K, NJ
Kazakhstan has always required lengthy travel. In the past, many families were in the country for six to eight weeks.
Many families use Family and Medical Leave Act time for travel. While that reduces the amount of time available for adjusting once the child arrives home, it is sometimes a necessity.

Hi Sak,
Thanks for your answer. My husband is in his own business and doesn't get covered under any labor laws for leave. Do both parents have to be incountry for a month?
Thanks,
