Hello everyone. My name is Lauren and I have just begun my search for my biological parents. I received my non identifying info from Children's Home Society this morning, and have found out I am half Lumbee. Born 5/27/1985 I'm not really sure where to go from here. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
There is very little activity on this forum and I know next to nothing to offer help. I did look at the Lumbee website and they do have a Tribal genealogist to help?

There are also several AP's on this site who may be able to give you some starting points - NDN (?) I think in particular may be a good one to ask. I will check that I have the right user name and if wrong come back - you could send her a private message.
You might have the ability to get your original birth certificate petition to the courts approved if your non-id states you are half Lumbee. It's worth looking because shortly after your birth they passed a law to protect heritage in adoption. The Lumbee are recognised by NC but not federally so unsure how that would factor into the law, especially if you weren't born in NC.
Kind regards,
Dickons

Hi Lauren,
I have recently found my Lumbee husband's birth family. In the process, I have become quite familiar with family histories of the tribe and other information that may be helpful to you.
Please feel free to e-mail me at mail2moneal@gmail.com if you would like a few pointers or assistance.
Good luck to you!
Michelle
