Hello everyone! My husband and I are wanting to grow our family through adoption. We are currently exploring adopting from Colombia or domestically.
I have a kidney disease. While it is a chronic health condition, it does not hinder my ability to parent. My doctor would be willing to write a letter supporting our decision to adopt.
Is it possible to be approved to adopt from Colombia when one parent has a chronic health condition?
Thanks for the input.
Hi, I was born with a congenital heart defect and had several operations as a child. I still see a cardiologist for follow ups once or twice a year, but I am an otherwise healthy adult. My husband and I have 2 children that we adopted from Colombia. We had my cardiologist write a letter stating that my heart condition would not in any way impact my ability to parent a child, and we included it in our dossier. it never seemed to be an issue for Colombia, and obviously did not impede our adoptions in any way. Good luck!
