Gas pipe pressure testing requirement cost

We are required to have our gas pipe pressure test done by our agency to get licensed and I have called a couple of plumbing companies that say they charge $400 for the test. Is that the normal cost?

Not sure if you use propane or natural gas, but if you use propane, your propane supplier will do the pressure test for free or for a nominal fee. I don't know about natural gas, though. Have you contacted your utility company?

If its NG it shouldn't cost more than $175.00. We used Abacus plumbing and that is what they charged us.
