Hi everyone,
We're just starting this adoption process and would really like to adopt from China. I understand that we must have a positive net worth of $80k. We have a truck, car, and motorcycle all paid off, but we just bought our house and we both have significant student loan debt.
I've read on some forums that some agencies don't count student loan debt against you. Please PM me if you know which agencies these are!
If student loans do count against us, it's better for us to spend our extra money paying off student loans since they have a higher interest rate than our mortgage. But if student loans don't count against us, then paying off our home would increase our equity/net worth. Thoughts?
Hi- I know you didn't ask and probably already know, but the wait for China is a little over five years. This may affect how you plan which bills to pay off. China has gotten so iffy and long, idk-- have you looked into domestic adoption? The cost is lower.
