We are domestic adoptive parents to a 15 year old girl. She came to use when she was 14 and in the system. Post-adoption we are struggling with parenting a teenager who's social/emotional age and skills are much lower. The neglect and abandonment has create this and it appears she just stopped maturing about the time she moved from her home. So I realize it's just going to take time, therapy, etc. Yet, as a mom I'm looking for resources or experiences other might have in parenting older adoptive adolescents with a low social/emotional age and skills? Tips, tools, etc. would be greatly appreciated.
