Hi, I'm in Kansas and my husband and I recently lost our BIS for two wonderful little girls who have been in our house for 14 months. The youngest was only 6 months old when she came to us, and only remembers us as mom and dad. But when the group did the BIS we lost to another foster family, who has never met them. The only real reasons that they had were a former foster child (who is now 20) who has a record has been a part of our lives but has now moved on to his bio family. And our income, I took a year off from teaching to be with the girls, and I am looking for a new job. They said we can appeal, but said that the result will not change. We have thought about hiring a lawyer. But everyone involved says we already lost... Any suggestions. These girls have been my babies, and I don't want to lose them. They and I will be heartbroken.
Do they plan to adopt these kids? Are they kin? I'm not getting why they would just take them, unless a family member demanded this.
