Looking for reassurance?!?

We are attempting to have my husband adopt our son whose BF hasn't been around since he was 10weeks old. My son is now 12yrs and requesting adoption and last name change. The BF has paid child support here and there, but is in arrears approximately $16,000 (bc his child support was only $160/month) he is refusing to relinquish rights and we are going to court soon. Any success stories like this one? We have an attorney and so does the BF....wer'e stressing and just looking for small glimmers of hope.
