Adoption court date postponement????????

Quick question :a little background we are adopting a sib set of 3 kiddos. We are waiting for the appeal to be denied then we will get out adoption date. My hubby just got accepted into the police Academy that will last 4 months but it's most likely we will be assigned our adoption date within that time. Problem is, no absences are allowed during training regardless of the situation. Would it be possible to postpone?
