I was adopted in lincoln county, Mississippi in 1978. I have the judicial decree confirming my adoption, including a case number and date. With that info plus my birthday, the state says they have no records from my adoption and can not give me my non-identifying information. The lawyer who arranged the adoption refuses to answer phone messages or respond to letters requesting non-identifying information. What is going on here? Am I going about this the wrong way? Has this happened to others in Mississippi?
