For those considering foster care or adoption but not sure you would be a good fit, here's an idea: Try being respite care parents. That means that you'll provide respite for other foster parents. Maybe for a few hours, a day, a weekend or even a week. Give the parents a break, give the kids a little vacation, and give yourselves the opportunity to see what parenting foster children and adoptable children is like. Although it's not "reality" (the kids are on a vacation with you!) your eyes will be opened to certain situations and you can see if it's right for you. GOOD LUCK!
