Did you know that some people living in the US who were adopted internationally - approximately 35,000 - are not currently legally considered citizens? These days, when a child is adopted internationally, they automatically receive citizenship, but that wasn't the case in the past, and if adoptive parents didn't apply for citizenship status for their children, they weren't recognized as citizens. Some of these adoptees are actually being deported as a result - sent back to countries that they haven't been to for most of their lives, where they know no one, and likely are not even familiar with the language. This is a serious issue that needs to be addressed, and the Adoptee Citizenship Act will do that.
Here's an article detailing specific ways that you can help get this act passed!
