Hi. Not sure if my first post was created. But I thought I'd say hello to everyone. My wife and I have started the adoption process. Got all my forms and have started to fill them out. Very nervous/excited about the whole thing. Here in Arkansas, I get a 20 day suspense to get all my forms in so I hope to get this thing mailed off next week.
I look forward to reading & learning all I can on this message board.
Just got an email requesting for driving history record. I didnt know you could order them off of the DMV site for a few bucks!
Sent the records a few hours ago and I hope that'll suffice.

Wow, your driving history? That's pretty intense. I can totally see looking on your criminal record for serious driving situations, but they want to know about your speeding tickets, eh?
Congrats on starting your adoption journey! My husband and I started the process in August of 2016, got matched with a birth mother in November and our son was born last month. There are stressful parts for sure in the process and I think the beginning was the part that seemed to drag on, especially when we were waiting on our background clearance. It took about 3 weeks, but felt like 3 years! Once our home study was completed and our profile went up, everything moved very quickly and that was the fun part. Let me know if you have any questions!

Nice! Congrats to you both. Got another email today requesting for another form to fill out. Thank goodness for the internet and having scan to PDF capability.
Adoption update. Just finished our initial interview. It wasnt too bad...we were briefed on what we needed to do like, secure cleaning supplies, lock up prescription medication etc. Overall, we're pretty pumped! We have to get CPR certified and provide a house diagram.

Latest update! Just got word that our fingerprints came back good! Which means, we're now eligible to start taking the PRIDE training course. And...I'm back to waiting. I heard that they need X amount of people to start the class so I guess...hurry up and wait!
Congrats on getting one more step in the process. The waiting game can be hard, but the end result is well worth it.
What path are you taking? Straight adoption or Foster Adoption? What's your age group? Have you and your partner discussed the special needs you're willing to accept? Sibling groups?
So many questions!

@Brandy...we're doing straight up adoption and our age group is 3-7. As long as our little bubba is younger than my daughter, why? We really want her to step into that "big sister" role. The special needs checklist was awful. When we were filling it out, it asked questions like, are you willing to accept a child with glasses, or that's blind. It made me sad thinking about all the kids all over the world that DO have these conditions. I wish I was as rich as Warren Buffet and I would adopt everyone and take care of them. But...sibling groups are good to go w/ us. Just need to get through this long process.
On a side note, just got a letter with our PRIDE training class date/times. But what's weird is that I had to call to "RSVP" a spot. I find this odd in today's technology driven world. I'm just glad I got the letter.

Hahaha! I know, right? Oddly, the states tend to run WAY behind in terms of technology. I was shocked to see that our local county office still uses dot matrix printers! For real!
Good luck with your training. It will be eye opening and scary -- but worth it.
