Hello, I am a law student conducting research on discrimination in loans for fertility and adoption services.
Discrimination in lending decisions against single/unmarried individuals, LGBTQ folks, older Americans, racial and ethnic groups, and religious affiliation is a violation of federal lending laws.
For those without the good fortune to have access to insurance and personal resources (or those who are denied them), debt and loans may offer the only way to finance a family, but little is known about lenders issuing loans for adoptions and fertility services. More information is needed to determine where and how discrimination may be occurring against protected individuals in accessing the financing they need to become a parent, in order to stop it.
Do you think you been discriminated against by a *lender* in applying for a loan that is specifically for your adoption or fertility services, or in another loan product (second mortgage, HELOC, credit card, personal loan) that they knew to be for adoption/fertility services, because you are a member of one of the groups above?
Sharing your story may help advocates end this discrimination and improve access to financial options so *everyone* can pursue parenthood, equally. Please message me your story at (or share openly here if you feel comfortable to do so).
