I'm a mandated reporter in the state of California because of my line of work. That means that if I see any of the specific warning signs we are trained to look out for, I am legally obligated to make a report to child protective services. But there are some situations I know of that don't fit the mandate, but I still am concerned. At one point do you think it's appropriate to make a report on a hunch? I don't want to make things worse if I'm wrong.
I too am a mandated reporter. I always keep the motto that I would rather report something and nothing come of it than to not report something and an irreversible incident occurs.
