There are so many factors that contribute to this. Supposedly, going through an agency will get you matched faster, as you know that your profile is being presented to birth mothers who are also using the agency. Some people have ethical issues with agencies and choose to advertise and adopt privately, which can sometimes take a little longer. It's not uncommon to wait between 1 and 5 years to adopt.
