Hi folks,
I'm a professor at the University of California, San Diego, and I'm the son of an adopted child (our biological family, whom we've recently located, is in the UK). I've created a class intended for recent / future parents, and it occurs to me that it could be useful for families seeking to adopt, both to learn about big questions, but also to demonstrate to others that you've taken the time to learn about parenting and are informed about basic issues.
The class is called "The Science of Parenting" and can be found on Edx.org. It can be taken for free or for around $50 if you'd like a certificate that verifies completion of the class (e.g., to show to outside organizations, etc.). It covers topics like breastfeeding, vaccination, sleep, diet, homeschooling, early learning, moral development, food allergies, autism, sudden infant death syndrome, etc.
Good luck with your own journey.
